Aims The aims of the Culture & Tourism Group are to stimulate cultural cooperation and exchange between the member regions around the North Sea, to create awareness of historical and cultural links among the general public, to strengthen the professional cooperation between the members in the fields of culture, heritage and tourism, and to stimulate increased cultural tourism activity around the North Sea. Activities The Culture & Tourism Group has 2-3 meetings annually. 10-15 regions regularly participate in the work of the group. Most members of the group are senior officers in the field, although some councillors also participate. The group aims at strengthening the cultural and touristic cooperation between the member regions of the North Sea Commission. In addition, the members benefit from the regular contact with colleagues from around the North Sea basin. |
The General Assembly of the North Sea Commission, held in Stavanger (Norway) on 18 June 2010, expressed their real concerns in respect of the oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico. The General Assembly urges all governments to urgently investigate the risks which exist in the North Sea.
The North Sea is of fundamental importance to the lives of its inhabitants and the economies of all the countries around the North Sea.
